About Clean Power Choice
Clean Power Choice exists for one reason: homeowners deserve straight answers about solar and battery storage. No hype, no scare tactics about "act now or miss the deadline," and no jargon used as a wall between you and your own numbers.
We're an independent team working with American homeowners on solar panels, home battery storage, and the energy systems that tie them together. We design and install systems, yes — but we're just as interested in telling you when you shouldn't install one.

How we write
Every article on this site follows the same process, and we think it's worth being explicit about it:
- We cite our numbers. Prices, rates, and market data come from public sources — EnergySage marketplace quote data, the EIA, NREL, SEIA, and BloombergNEF. If we say something, there's a source in the article.
- We update for policy changes. When the federal residential tax credit (Section 25D) expired on December 31, 2025, we rewrote our cost guidance instead of quietly letting 2024 articles age. You should never make a decision on stale math.
- We show the math. Our solar savings calculator is fully transparent — every assumption is adjustable, and the calculation steps are shown step by step. If a company's calculator hides its inputs, that's a red flag we take personally.
- We tell you when the answer is "wait." A solar system that doesn't pay back in your timeframe is a bad purchase, full stop. Recommending it anyway is how the industry lost trust, and we're not going to do it.
Our experience
We review hundreds of real solar quotes every month as part of our work with customers, and we talk to installers, utility representatives, and storage specialists across the Texas market and beyond. That daily exposure is what goes into this site: the patterns in what good quotes look like, where installers inflate costs, and which "urgent" deadlines are real and which are sales tactics.
We're strongest in Texas — it's where our customers are and where we track the retail electricity market most closely. For other states, we lean harder on the national data and flag the parts that vary by grid.
